At Acorn Speech, we believe every child’s communication journey begins with a small but powerful seed. With the right support, those seeds grow into strong, confident voices. Wether we’re building first words, supporting AAC, or coaching families- we’re here to help your child thrive.

About Me

Hi! I’m Emily, a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist based in the North Houston area, and the heart behind this private practice. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Communication Disorders from Texas State University and have a deep passion for helping children and their families find meaningful ways to connect and communicate.

I specialize in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and am especially focused on providing thorough AAC assessments and ongoing support for AAC users. I also enjoy working with gestalt language processors, early communicators, and supporting language development through play and connection.

My approach is rooted in the belief that families are their child's best therapists. I see my role as a coach and partner, empowering parents and caregivers to build confident, connected communicators. I believe in play-based therapy, neuro-diversity affirming, relationship-first intervention, and honoring each child's unique way of interacting with the world. Compliance isn’t the goal, connection is.

I offer in-home, in-daycare, and in-ABA center services to make therapy as convenient and natural as possible. As a mom myself, I know how much it means to receive support that’s personalized, flexible, and judgment-free. I’m currently running as a private-pay practice so I can provide high-quality, individualized care without the limitations of insurance or red tape of bureaucracy.

If you’re looking for therapy that values your child’s voice, your family’s role, and the power of authentic connection, I’d love to work with you.
